Dr. Al-Hussein said in statements to "The Citizen", that the neck is the most mobile part of the spine, as it bears 15% of the body weight, but it is less protected than the rest of the spine in order to It gives us a greater range of motion, and because it is not protected like the thoracic vertebrae attached to the ribs, so it is more vulnerable to pain and injury.

Warning: 80% of neck pain is caused by Mobile

Dr. Al-Hussein presented a number of tips that everyone should follow to avoid neck pain, which are:

⁃ Avoid staying in a sitting position for a long time, especially if the neck is positioned in one direction, such as reading, writing, mobile browsing, and watching TV.

⁃ Move and perform light exercises on the neck at least every 15 minutes, while keeping the head straight.

⁃ A small inclined wooden base can be placed on the desk to help read or write without bending the neck so that what the individual writes or reads is at eye level.

⁃ The ideal position for working on a computer is in the position of the screen, so that its center is at the level of the nose of the person sitting in front of it, and the keyboard is placed so that the shoulders are in a moderate position and not raised upwards, and the elbow is bent at 90 degrees, and the wrist is relaxed in a position 30 degrees.

⁃ Avoid placing a telephone or mobile headset between the shoulder and the head, as this leads to excessive load on the vertebrae and tissues of the neck.

⁃ Avoid sitting on a long chair with a short desk that puts the neck and back in the wrong position.

Lying on the bed:

Dr. Al-Hussein called for avoiding using the mobile phone, reading, or watching TV when lying on the bed, as the neck is in most cases in an incorrect position, stressing that the patient with neck pain should avoid Carrying heavy objects or pushing or pulling objects, especially heavy ones, with force, and avoiding situations in which he has to raise his head up for a long time, and the need to avoid using a very small or solid pillow or a type that compresses easily so that it becomes useless, noting that the pillow is not placed under Shoulder but between the neck and shoulder.

Painkillers and sports:

Dr. Al-Hussein concluded by saying that in mild cases of neck pain, pain relievers available without a prescription can be used, and they can be obtained directly from pharmacies, and hot compresses can be used for 20 minutes several times. On the day, you can also take a warm shower or use a warm pillow while setting it in a low position from the place of neck pain. Besides, you can do neck exercises at home, as this helps not to strain the neck.
