TikTok Tests Game Streaming App TikTok Live Studio
Together - The TikTok platform is testing a new application for broadcasting across desktop computers running the Windows operating system called TikTok Live Studio, which allows users to broadcast live clips from games and other applications.
The program is currently being tested with a small number of users in some Western markets, TikTok says. But it seems that his official page on the company's website has been deleted.
And if released, TikTok Live Studio could represent an interesting change to the platform's live streaming strategy.
Once downloaded via a Windows device, the program allows users to sign in with their TikTok account and stream directly to TikTok Live.
Within the program, you can communicate with viewers through the chat feature, and you can broadcast content from a computer, phone, or gaming platform.
A clear advantage of the platform in testing this feature is that content creators may be eager to stay within the app, rather than asking the audience to watch them broadcast on Twitch or YouTube.
Rather than focusing on users streaming directly from mobile devices, TikTok Live Studio's focus can be expanded to include game streaming, bringing it into competition with Twitch, YouTube Gaming and Facebook Gaming.
Reports suggested that the application supports broadcasting in landscape and portrait modes. It can also take screenshots of games, individual programs, mobile devices, and cameras.
It was previously possible to broadcast live from a desktop device to TikTok using third-party software such as Streamlabs. However, the feature's help page states that access is limited and by invitation only.
There are also tutorials that use third-party services like Loola.tv as an alternative solution to connecting TikTok to streaming software like OBS. But it is not perfect.
The Loola.tv help page notes that TikTok streaming is currently down for most users as of July of this year.
It is not clear when the platform will expand its testing of TikTok Live Studio to more users. But if it becomes widely available, desktop streaming could bring a lot of variety to the platform's roster of live content.
