The Ministry of Education begins negotiations for the "basic system" with trade union organizations

Awaiting the outcome of the dialogue sessions between the Ministry of National Education and the sectoral unions, educational workers are betting on the emergence of a new basic system that ends financial and educational problems that have accumulated over the years and the absence of effective solutions.

It is expected that the ministry, the guardian of the sector, accompanied by the unions, will hold sessions this February with a key point related to the new statute and the deletion of the current one, in order to ensure that all files are settled and that no new factional demands arise.

The demands for an increase in wages, a review of promotions, compensation and ladders, and the integration of academies frameworks are the points of the expected deliberation between the two parties, and we will launch its work within this week.

comprehensive system

Abd al-Razzaq al-Idrisi, the national writer of the National University of Education, said that there are many pillars around which it is expected that the new statute for unions will hover, starting with inclusiveness, as it must include the various categories of primary education.

Al-Idrisi added, in a statement to the Hespress online newspaper, that the unions are waiting for clear answers regarding employment, retirement, demarcation and promotions, as well as preserving all the gains, despite their prominent weakness.

The union leader recorded the need to reconsider issues of promotions, calling for them to be addressed with the compensation and ladder system, stressing the need to fulfill the promise of an increase in teachers' wages within the new statute.

Pending questions

Abdel-Wahab Al-Suhaimi, the coordinator of the protests of professors, the Evidence Campaign, considered that the files that were agreed upon during the last period between the ministry and the unions were taken out by decree and they must be included in the new basic law.

Al-Suhaimi added, in a statement to Hespress newspaper, that the system must include everyone to avoid the departure of each group for the sake of protest, adding that matters are not as clear as they should and require highlighting the details.

The same speaker stressed the need to activate the wage increase and the rest of the details of linking training to the financial increase, as well as clarifying the fate of those who are required to contract within the system. Will they be employees like their colleagues or will they be kept within the “equipment”?
