Egyptians and the mobile phone... an "amazing" official statistic
The number of mobile phone lines has reached 96 million in Egypt, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, on Sunday.
This means that the country registered one million new lines during the past year alone.
The Statistics Authority stated in an economic bulletin that the number of Internet users increased over the past year by more than ten percent, to reach more than 38 million people.
The bulletin showed the diversity of ways to connect to the Internet in Egypt, pointing to the increase in the number of Internet surfers through mobile phones, to 27 million users.
It is noteworthy that a recent census of Egypt's population indicated that its population exceeded the threshold of 92 million last November.
