Steve Jobs .. from his garage to Apple
“Your work will fill a large part of your life, and the only way you will be satisfied with that is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you have not yet reached this feeling in your work, keep searching without stopping, your heart will recognize that work when you find it.” This was the saying of a genius who changed the face of the world with revolutionary inventions and ideas. It is Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple, who we learn about his path to follow the example of entrepreneurs who began to take the path of leadership.
The origins “Steve Jobs” was born in San Francisco, California, on the twenty-fourth of February 1955. He is a technology entrepreneur, and he was the founding partner of the well-known company “Apple”; As Paul and Carla Jobs adopted him, he grew up with his sister, Patty Paul Jobs, who was working in the auto repair profession.
Silicon Valley In 1961, the family moved to Mountain View; A city in Santa Clara County, California, which has become a center for electronics, it is now called Silicon Valley, after the silicone used in the manufacture of some electronic parts.
Steve Jobs' passion for technology:
Steve Jobs loved to rely on himself since childhood, and was fond of competition, but he was not interested in joining different sports teams, or even other activities, but rather he was interested in electronics and innovations, He used to spend a lot of time in a workshop in his neighbor's garage, who was working for Hewlett-Packard, known as "HP". After graduating from high school in 1927, Steve Jobs attended Reed College in Portlatted, Oregon, for two years. After one semester, he traveled to India in the summer of 1974 to study Eastern religions. In 1975 he joined a computer club called “Homepro”, and he attended the club’s meetings with his partner “Wozniak”, who invented the “Apple 1” computer in 1976, after showing it to Steve Jobs, who suggested selling it, so they decided – with their third partner. Ronald Wayne” - the creation of Apple in the garage of Steve Jobs' house.
Apple and the personal computer Steve Jobs realized that there was a huge gap in the computer market. As most computers at that time were of the large “Mainframe” type, the device was approximately the size of a room, and it was very expensive, so that an individual could not own it.
In 1977, Steve Jobs and his friend Wozniak redesigned their computer and called it: the Apple II; To sell it to individuals, its sales in its first year amounted to 2.7 million dollars, and within three years sales rose to 200 million dollars.
By 1980, the personal computer was manufactured on a large scale; What forced Apple to constantly improve its products; To stay ahead of competitors, it launched the Apple 3, but it did not achieve the same success as the Apple 2; Not only because of technological problems, but also because of marketing problems; What forced the company to withdraw it from the market.
In 1983, the Apple Lisa was unveiled, but it did not sell well; Because of its high price, compared to competing devices, especially IBM devices, which acquired half of Apple's share.
The Macintosh The Macintosh, or what is known as “Mac,” was a revolution in the world of personal computers, and that was in 1984 when it was launched as the company’s first personal computer; It featured a graphical user interface and a mouse - a new tool at the time - which made the Macintosh an easy-to-use device. Despite this, the device did not achieve the expected sales; Because it lacks some of the characteristics found in others, such as a high-quality printer. The failure of the Macintosh signaled the beginning of the downfall of Steve Jobs, who left his company “Apple” in 1985, but still retained the title of Chairman of the Board.
NeXT Corporation In 1988, Steve Jobs and a group of his former employees founded NeXT to manufacture computers for the higher education and business market, featuring an innovative operating system. The device was easy to use for any user, and it performed operations quickly, and had a distinctive user interface, and a great sound system, but it also did not succeed in the market.
Pixar Corporation
Next was not the end of Steve Jobs. In 1986, Jobs bought a company called “Pixar” that specialized in computer animation. In 1995, “Toy Story” was produced; One of the famous animated films as the first integrated film to be made entirely using Steve Jobs' computer. The company then made animated films; Including the second part of the same movie, and a bug's life, and finally the company of horrors limited.
NeXT and Apple In 1996, Apple bought NeXT's "software" for $400 million. Steve Jobs returned to Apple as an advisor to the CEO. In a surprising event a year later, Apple entered into a partnership with rival Microsoft; To introduce, over the course of six years, several new products and marketing strategies.
In 1997, Steve Jobs announced that the company would sell devices directly to users through the phone and the Internet, and the Apple Store was a huge success. Within a week, it was the third largest online e-commerce store. In September 1997, Steve Jobs was named interim CEO of Apple.
Despite the death of Jobs on October 5, 2011 at the age of 56, Apple is still continuing its creative path with its devices on the market.
