PDO funds more than 2,000 laptops for school students

Petroleum Development Oman has financed 2,386 laptop computers for students of the Company's concession area schools who are enrolled in grades seven through twelve.

This initiative comes as a continuation of PDO's efforts to develop community projects and enhance partnership with relevant government agencies, which contributes to the development of the educational process by promoting the concept of e-learning and supporting parents and students to achieve this goal by providing the necessary tools for that.

Mohammed bin Saeed Bait Shajana, Director of the Information Technology Department in the General Directorate of Education in the Governorate of Dhofar, said that the information technology sector is one of the important sectors in all institutions due to the great reliance on it in the implementation and conduct of the work of these institutions and the many solutions provided by this sector that led to saving effort and money.

He added that the last stage witnessed a significant acceleration in the use of educational platforms imposed by the conditions of the Covid 19 pandemic, which requires the presence of computers or tablets for the student to be able to achieve distance learning using educational platforms, noting that such support will contribute greatly to Enhancing teaching methods and methods and developing students’ abilities in light of the blended education system that requires the use of these devices.

The handover was attended by a number of representatives of the Petroleum Development Oman and Dhofar Education employees.
