Motorola launches the Moto Watch 100 smart watch at an affordable price and great capabilities

The American company, Motorola, announced the launch of a new smart watch, which it called the Moto Watch 100, and put it up for sale at a price of $ 100, according to what was announced by the official Motorola website, and the news was reported by foreign newspapers.

The new Moto Watch 100 features proprietary software called Moto OS, which is a huge departure from the Moto watches we've seen so far, meaning that it will follow in the footsteps of modern watches like the Huawei Watch 3, OnePlus Watch and every Fitbit smartwatch since the Ionic launched in 2017.

During the Moto Watch 100 launch press conference, eBuyNow, a subsidiary of CE Brands and Motorola's "Strategic Brand Partner", said the Moto Watch 100 targets first-time smartwatch users and will provide a "simplified experience" for health and wellness, and on the product's website. Moto OS, says Moto OS, "significantly increases battery life."

eBuyNow predicts that the new watch will get 14 days on a single charge, has built-in GPS, continuous heart rate monitoring, and SpO2 sensors to measure blood oxygen levels. Currently, there's no Wear OS watch on the market that can do all that and last more than two days.

The Moto Watch 100 offers a great spec sheet for the $99.99 smartwatch, in addition to its health features, it's 5ATM water resistant, supports fast charging, and has a 1.3-inch LCD screen, but one thing that Moto OS won't have is the third-party apps.

Regarding the Huawei Watch 3 apps for example, the hardware was great but HarmonyOS was limited to if not all Huawei apps, meanwhile, OnePlus also tried to prioritize battery life over literally everything else, and that didn't pay off.

Essentially, the Moto Watch 100 is taking a calculated risk. WearOS 2 is on its way, but it will be several months before Wear OS 3 arrives. The launch of the new Wear OS watch right now won't make the company endearing to anyone unfamiliar with its quirks, just look at Fossii's Gen 6 to see why. Whether that gamble pays off entirely depends on Moto OS, which provides a good enough fitness tracking experience to make up for the lack of other smart features.

The $99.99 Moto Watch 100 will be available for pre-order in the US and Canada, and will be available in black and silver, and is also compatible with both iOS and Android, but iOS users will have to wait until December for the Moto iOS app.
