The telecom sector indicators report issued by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology revealed today that the total number of mobile and fixed-line subscribers in Egypt reached about 114.46 million subscribers at the end of last December, compared to about 105.21 million subscribers for the same period in 2020, an annual increase of 9.25 One million lines, and a monthly rate of 420 thousand subscribers, after the total subscribers recorded in the previous November, about 114.04 million subscribers.

103.45 million mobile customers

The report, of which Al-Dustour obtained a copy, added that the total number of mobile phone subscribers recorded about 103.45 million subscribers at the end of last December, compared to about 95.36 million subscribers for the same period in 2020, with a monthly increase of 1.06 million customers, with a growth rate of 1.04%, after The number of subscribers in the previous November recorded about 102.39 million, with an annual increase of about 8.09 million subscribers, with a growth rate of 8.49% during the year.

99.78% mobile penetration rate

He pointed out that the number of mobile phone subscribers recorded about 99.78% of the total telephone service subscribers in Egypt during the month of December, compared to about 93.65% for the same period in 2020, with a monthly change rate of 0.88%, after the mobile phone penetration rate recorded about 98.90% during previous November and annualized 6.13%.

11.01 million fixed line subscribers

The report indicated that the total number of used fixed-line subscribers recorded about 11.01 million subscribers at the end of last December, compared to about 9.85 million subscribers for the same period in 2020, and the annual growth rate was recorded at about 11.82%, with an increase of about 1.16 million subscribers, while It decreased monthly by 2.55% after the number of subscribers recorded about 11.30 million subscribers during the previous November, a decrease of 290 thousand subscribers during the month.

He explained that the current capacity of the fixed line “landline” rose to 24.13 million lines at the end of last December, compared to about 24.82 million lines for the same period in 2020, with a monthly decline rate of 5.4%, after it recorded in the previous November about 25.51 million lines, and an annual decline of about 2.8 %.

8.5 million fixed urban subscribers

He stated that the number of fixed-line subscribers in urban areas recorded about 8.50 million lines at the end of last December, compared to about 7.74 million lines for the same period in 2020, while the number of fixed-line subscribers in the countryside reached about 2.51 million lines at the end of last November, compared to about 2.11 million line for the same period in 2020.

While the fixed-line penetration rate recorded 10.6% at the end of last December, compared to 7.73% for the same period in 2020, with an annual growth rate of 2.87%, and a monthly decline of about 2.93%, after it was recorded last November about 10.92%.

He indicated that the total number of exchanges registered about 1,511 exchanges by the end of last December, of which about 1,052 were in the countryside, while the home sector accounted for about 89% of the number of landline subscribers, followed by the commercial sector by 9%, and finally the government sector by 2%.
