Basma Tawakkol: She established "Dira" to buy and sell used clothes and direct the return to the poor
Basma Tawakkol, the "Dira" electronic platform for selling and selling used clothes, representative of the "Rowad 2030" project, says that she took her way towards the world of entrepreneurship from the volunteer work portal since the university stage, which paved the way for it to launch a service project that represents a link between the two categoriesThe highest and least income, to become a work for her and a large turning point in her life.
"Basma" explains that her entry into the world of entrepreneurship was not a coincidence or a stroke of luck, but rather the result of a long and extended journey of study and learning, culminated in obtaining a master's degree in entrepreneurship from the two largest universities in Egypt and England, through a free grant provided by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Developmenttwo years ago.She added, "I presented any extent, and I was not expected to succeed, but I accepted and succeeded and started turning my dream from an idea into a project on the ground that people benefit from."
On the nature of the project, Basma explains that "Dira" is an electronic platform, which was launched in 2020 with the aim of selling and selling used clothes that are in good condition, at reasonable prices, so that part of the return is directed to the most needy groups.
And it indicates that the platform succeeded, during the last period, in collecting 2000 pieces of clothing, selling more than 1,000 pieces, and donating more than 15 institutions and charitable hospital, in addition to holding partnerships with famous fashion designers and fashion models through social media, "Fashion Blogger", to buyOne -use clothes, and display them for sale at an affordable price on the platform after cleaning and sterilizing them, for those who wish to buy.
"Basma" confirms that the importance of the project stems from the fact that the wardrobe of some people is filled with old and unused clothes, in light of the high prices of new clothes in a way that exceeds the capabilities of a large segment of citizens, in addition to the need for the target groups for cash assistance more than the clothes that are donated.
It also confirms that there is another importance for the project, which is that the clothing industry is the second largest polluting of the environment in the world, in light of the rapid change of fashions, and the high volume of clothing waste to about 19 million tons of clothes annually in the world. She notes that there are more than 2 million and 300 thousand pieces of clothing that are donated annually, which is a huge number that can definitely resell it at reasonable prices, while supporting civil society institutions with part of the sale returns; To be in favor of those who are unable and the first categories of care.
"Reem Capsules": Medical support for "Corona" and the residents of the camps
Dr. Reem Al -Othman, from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, graduated from the College of Pharmacy in 2017, and the idea of her project "Reem Capsules" came out to the light with the emergence of the Korona virus pandemic, which hit the world with shock and panic, with the beginnings of 2020."After the emergence of the Korona pandemic, I found an opportunity to launch a health awareness project under the name (Reem capsules), in order to achieve many sustainable development goals, including health, good education, and gender equality."
She added that the project is based on several basic axes, foremost of which is targeting the less fortunate groups, especially in the remote camps or villages in the Kingdom of Jordan, and to respond to the repercussions of the "Corona" pandemic, in addition to holding local and international partnerships in this field. She pointed to the launch of the project on social media platforms at the end of the year 2020, with many awareness -raising media campaigns with the symptoms of "Corona", the health procedures needed to be followed, and to provide the necessary treatment, to confront the great and sometimes justified pressure on health facilities; Because of the state of panic and lack of awareness at the beginning of the pandemic. It revealed the success of the project in attracting 50 thousand followers, within a year and a half, on its official launch, then the expansion of providing awareness services targeting women and youth, on reproductive health, sexual and women's health in general, began in partnership with many government institutions in Jordan, in addition to work On facing the drug waste crisis resulting from a wrong consumer culture between people and the absence of awareness of the rates of safe consumption of the drug, and when it should be obtained and stop using it, how to get rid of medical waste, in addition to the lack of "mechanization" of the drug circulation system and imposing control on the process of spending citizens of the pharmaceutical items Frequently without recommending a doctor. And considered that the "Corona" pandemic imposed a major challenge related to the increase in medical waste, including, for example, the increasing rate of consumption of medical masks is a million times, and in return it is not disposed of in a safe way, and therefore all these matters constitute important issues, so they have set the priorities of its project work. . She concluded by saying: “We raised many recommendations to decision makers, and we are in the current stage in the process of raising the level of media skills and communicating with workers in the health sector, to simplify the way medical information is presented to citizens who are not specialists, starting from universities in northern Jordan, then expanding in central and south The Kingdom, to launch a larger platform at the Arab and regional levels. ”
