A smart watch for skiing and snorkeling enthusiasts
The American company Nixon, which specializes in the manufacture of sports watches, decided to enter the market of smart wearable devices strongly by launching a smart watch specifically directed at sports enthusiasts, especially water skiing or deep diving enthusiasts, as it is characterized by its high ability to resist water.
The watch, which bears the name "Mission" and will be offered for four hundred dollars, runs on the Google Android Wear system, and it has a rating of "10-ATM" for water resistance, which means that it can work to a depth of 100 metres.
According to the company, this is the highest waterproof rating among any smartwatch so far, and to put the watch to the test, it provides its users, who are skiing or snowboarding enthusiasts, regularly updated information on conditions around the world through a pair of pre-installed applications.
As for the hardware, the “Mission” watch is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, topped with a circular AMOLED screen covered by a “Gorilla Glass” layer, and a stainless steel outer frame surrounded by polycarbonate with a silicone wrist strap for comfort and durability.
The company allows the ability to customize its watch according to the user's desire, similar to the Motorola "Moto 360" watch, where the colors of the watch frame or wrist strap can be replaced, and the digital watch screen can be made to mimic the appearance of other watches of the company.
“We wanted to make our entry into the smartwatch category in a disciplined and purposeful way by bringing in useful functions that adhere to our sports watch heritage,” says CEO Nick Stowe, noting that the company has a “family of upcoming smart products.”
